It first appeared in February 1930, sung by Ruth Etting in the show "Nine Fifteen Revue", and charted twice in the same year - Nathaniel Shilkret (# 6) and Frankie Trumbauer (# 15)

Judy Garland sang it in the 1950 film "Summer Stock", and it was dubbed by Jane Froman for Susan Hayward in the 1952 film "With A Song In My Heart".
